How come the BBC puts up this, but I haven’t heard a peep from NBC?

THOUGHT OF THE HOUR

Downing St. is so high-tech.  They have Twitter (and let’s not forget all those YouTube videos)!

DEAR NEW YORK TIMES

Dear New York Times,

I’ve been trying to tolerate your changes.  First it was the addition of the new editors.  Gail Collins and the guy who I always confuse with Nicholas Kristof (their names look similar at a glance).  I tried reading their op-eds, but they’re just terrible.  But I excused that (and just don’t read those articles).  Then there was all that Hillary-pandering.  I overlooked that too, since she’s a senator from the Empire State.  The endorsement, geographically speaking, made sense.  But now, you’re taking the pseudo-independent IHT and attempting to merge it with the NYT.  I KNOW your subscriptions are decreasing and that maybe the IHT isn’t getting enough readership, but did you HAVE to put that stupid photo on the front page of the IHT?  You know which one I’m talking about, the priveleged Greenwich, CT family that was the poster image someone set up for the reading books vs. reading online “debate”.  The quotation marks are there because it’s not really a debate, but a matter of what you read and personal preference.  I hate it when you make a big deal out of nothing for the sake of a story, NYT.  It’s disappointing.  Thanks for showing a well-to-do family that happen to be Apple fanatics (at least the soon to be Columbia freshman – oh yeah, thanks for mentioning the school too) and trying to make the kids look like they know everything about their computers.  I’ll be merciful and forgiving this time too, NYT, but I’m putting you on notice.

Sincerely,

-sngk

HAPPY DROP

For some reason, I found this interesting and kind of cool.  Don’t ask why.

QUOTE

From today’s NYT Op-Ed:

What was most striking about the Obama speech in Berlin was not anything he said so much as the alternative reality it fostered: many American children have never before seen huge crowds turn out abroad to wave American flags instead of burn them.

This quote is sad but true, especially in Western Europe.

After rummaging through a box of my old things, it’s amazing that the old add/drop forms and permission slips I found are now just relics of Brown’s past.

Sweepin’ the clouds away

On my way to where the air is sweet.

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street.

This brings back fond memories of childhood, and the second video is quite clever.

I’m glad Sesame Street is still on the air for kids to watch.
